It’s my pleasure to present another favorite 1960s pin-up – the beautiful June Palmer, she of impeccable curves.
June was born in wartime London on August 1, 1940 and by the mid-1960s had blossomed into the subject of many a red-blooded Englishman’s fantasy – her amazing figure, lovely face, and natural charisma in front of the camera made her a much sought-after model for pin-up magazine and camera club shoots in the UK.
It’s rumored that she got her start dancing at SoHo’s legendary Windmill Theatre during its last years, though at a diminutive 5’2″ (157cm) it’s unlikely she would have met their height requirements. In any event, she soon went exclusively into modeling. June Palmer’s most famous material comes from her long-standing collaboration with photographer Harrison Marks, who very nearly did not hire her due to incessant giggling during their first test shoots – luckily June settled down and the pair became one of the most successful in glamour photography at the time.
Though June and Harrison’s relationship was romantic as well as professional, she also became involved with photographer, actor, and stunt man Arthur Howell. Together they opened Strobe Studios, which for two hours every Thursday evening was open to amateur photographers to practice their art – portraits and pin-up style photography the first hour, a cup of tea, and then classical poses for the remainder. During this time June ran the respected June Palmer Modeling Agency and continued to pose for private shoots well into the 1970s.
She also appeared in several 1960s and 70s B-movies, including Taste the Blood of Dracula, Games That Lovers Play, The Nine Ages of Nakedness, and other pinnacles of modern filmmaking. Not to mention her many playful and sexy 8mm loops courtesy of Harrison Marks and her own aforementioned Strobe. Some of these are fantastic – I’ll be posting a couple in the future.
Sadly, June passed away in early 2004. She leaves a legacy as the perhaps the most reknowned British glam model of the 1960s, still beloved by fans the world over. Enjoy the photos! As always, more June Palmer and other vintage pin-ups at DeltaofVenus.com.

(Re)introducing one of my favorite pin-ups of the 1960s – the one and only Michelle Angelo!
Michelle Angelo is one of the more recognizable pinup models of her era, partially because of the sheer quantity of photos she posed for, but also for her pretty ‘everyday girl’ looks and unique ‘characteristics’ – namely a pair of gorgeous, bouyant breasts topped off by two unusually large round nipples. Having an otherwise fantastic body did not hurt either.
She was born in Kingman, Texas in 1945. In 1966, a 21-year-old Michelle Angelo embarked on her dancing and modeling career in Los Angeles, often doing one or two photoshoots per day and performing at nightspots such as the famous Whisky-A-Go-Go. She appeared well over 500 magazine sets and countless nudie peepshow reels, going by both her Michelle Angelo name and the pseudonyms Janet Angel and Angie Duncan.
She also found time to act in several sexploitation movies of the time, including Street of a Thousand Pleasures, Marked For Love, Nymphs Anonymous, etc. Many of the photos and films she was featured in could be called “hippiesploitation”, cashing in on the West Coast counterculture of the late 60s – think acid-trip-meets-go-go-dancing-girl-next-door. Most famous of these is the Playboy shot of Michelle clad only in psychedelic body paint, from the March 1968 issue.
Just two short years after her start she retired from the modeling scene (though still appeared in a few films). She remained under the radar for decades but in recent years has popped up again attending pinup conventions and the like, by all accounts an extremely down-to-earth and gracious lady.
